Diggy Dog's Story
Diggy Dog is a three year old Pit Bull Labrador Retriever mix. After being surrendered to a high kill dog shelter as a puppy, he was fortunate to have been transferred to a shelter in Colorado where he was adopted by Freedom Service Dogs. Freedom Service Dogs saw high potential for training and a happy go lucky personality that was eager to please, so he was adopted and under went evaluation and training to become a service dog. This is where Amy Leewood, the creator of Diggy Dog's Kids' Club and Diggy Dog first met, as Amy was assigned as his trainer. After the decision was made that being a service dog was not the right path for Diggy Dog due to a fear of loud noises, he was adopted by Amy where he currently resides at his forever home with the Leewood family. His family includes his “human” brother Lawson, sister Winter and his doggy brothers Tolliver and Rupert. Winter was very young and just barely talking when Diggy Dog joined their family. She wasn’t quite able to pronounce “doggy” and called him “diggy” instead. From then on he was known as Diggy Dog. Diggy Dog loves kids and has so much fun working on his show.
About Diggy Dog's Kids' Club
Diggy Dog's Kids' Club was originally created as an educational YouTube channel with an emphasis on animals, plants, and environments, that also incorporated numbers, shapes, letters, etc. Amy Leewood, the creator of Diggy Dog's Kids Club wanted to give parents an educational option for their kids to watch on YouTube, that was both educational but also entertaining and fun. Being a mother of a 3 and 5 year old, Amy knew first hand the struggles of finding quality entertainment for the children that was also engaging. she has always had a profound respect and love for all of nature and the animal world. Armed with a background in wildlife education and a former career of working closely with and training many species of animals, she set off to begin the initial steps of creating Diggy Dog's Kids' Club. As time went by after launching the channel back in December of 2109, Seeing the majority of views were coming from online learning platforms, it became increasingly clear that the channel could hold more value and have a greater impact through remote learning. It seemed the channel could provide a helpful and free resource for teachers to utilize in their remote learning and in-person lesson planning. Having researched the curriculum of Kindergarten through second grade, Amy quickly got to work on creating episodes tailored to cover specific topics within these curriculums. Along the way she has developed a passion for creating educational videos for young children and appreciates all the support that she has received and is looking forward to continue creating videos and growing the Diggy Dog's Kids' Club family.
